-
Most of our vendors are small, locally owned businesses. Some have short or seasonal harvest windows and may not have products available for the entire season. Others participate in multiple markets each week. Because many of these entrepreneurs run their businesses on their own, balancing production, market schedules, and needed time for rest, it’s not always feasible for vendors to attend the market every week.
-
We define “local” as the five-state region surrounding the market. Vendors may apply if they are based in Minnesota or a bordering state—North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, or Wisconsin.
-
Our vendors use a variety of growing practices. We believe this diversity supports a wide range of local farmers and offers shoppers a mix of products and price points. Each market includes at least one certified organic vendor, while others may use organic or sustainable practices without formal certification. We encourage shoppers to talk directly with farmers at the market to learn more about how their food is grown.
-
The Northeast Farmers Market is supported through a combination of vendor fees, sponsorships, grants, and fundraising events. The market operates on a modest budget that covers essential expenses such as facility care and maintenance, insurance, permits and licenses, signage, utilities, waste disposal, site improvements, marketing, and staff support.
