Frequently Asked Questions

The Northeast Farmers Market is a community-focused, producer-only market that connects shoppers with local farmers, food makers, and artisans. Below you’ll find answers to our most frequently asked questions. If you don’t see what you’re looking for, please reach out—we’re happy to help.

  • There is no entrance fee and parking is free. You simply pay for what you purchase with any of our vendors.

  • Yes, our markets are open rain or shine and our vendors would appreciate your support in all types of weather. It is only in cases of severe weather that our market operations may be affected. We do our best to update our Instagram and Facebook accounts in real time if that is the case, and also share updates via our e-newsletter.

    • The market accepts credit cards in exchange for $5 market tokens.

    • Most vendors accept credit cards, all vendors accept cash, and some vendors accept checks.

    • Digital payment apps vary by Vendor.

    • An ATM is located at the SuperAmerica on West Broadway and University Avenue. We recommend checking directly with individual vendors for the payment methods they accept.

EBT/SNAP is also accepted, learn more here.

  • We love them, but dogs are not allowed at the market. Service dogs always welcome. Thank you for your cooperation! Learn more here.

  • Please get in touch—we may have it! Many lost items are turned in to our Information Booth during market hours. You can stop by the booth or email us at info@northeastmarket.org to inquire about lost and found items.

  • The Northeast Farmers Market is a smoke-free environment. Smoking and vaping are not permitted anywhere within the market area.

  • Most of our vendors are small, locally owned businesses. Some have short or seasonal harvest windows and may not have products available for the entire season. Others participate in multiple markets each week. Because many of these entrepreneurs run their businesses on their own, balancing production, market schedules, and needed time for rest, it’s not always feasible for vendors to attend the market every week.

  • We define “local” as the five-state region surrounding the market. Vendors may apply if they are based in Minnesota or a bordering state—North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, or Wisconsin.

  • Our vendors use a variety of growing practices. We believe this diversity supports a wide range of local farmers and offers shoppers a mix of products and price points. Each market includes at least one certified organic vendor, while others may use organic or sustainable practices without formal certification. We encourage shoppers to talk directly with farmers at the market to learn more about how their food is grown.

  • The Northeast Farmers Market is supported through a combination of vendor fees, sponsorships, grants, and fundraising events. The market operates on a modest budget that covers essential expenses such as facility care and maintenance, insurance, permits and licenses, signage, utilities, waste disposal, site improvements, marketing, and staff support.
